Hawken (stylized Hawken-tag-1) is an independent multiplayer mech combat game under development by Reloaded Games and originally developped by Adhesive Games and published by Meteor Entertainment. The game is being made using the Unreal 3 Engine. The game entered the open beta phase on the 12th of December 2012. It has been available on Steam Early Access since February 14, 2014.

Overview[]

Hawken is a mech-based first-person shooter that takes place in a dystopian human-colonized planet, Illal. The planet has been industrialized until the brink of collapse, and the hunt for resources have become a deadly battle for survival. Game modes include Team Deathmatch, Missile Assault, Deathmatch, Siege, and Co-op Bot Destruction. The game focuses on creating an intense battle experience that captures the feel of piloting a mech while keeping the action fast-paced and strategic. The player assumes the role of a pilot in a battle mech.

Reception[]

Hawken's release launch in 2012 was well met by awaiting fans. Players praised the inventive combat dynamics, movement options, and style, among other key features. Some media sources referred to Hawken as a game "ahead of its time."

In the final weeks before original Hawken for PC was removed from the Steam store, it held a score of "Very Positive" with 83% "thumbs-up" reviews among 19058 reviewers. [1]

The console ports of Hawken received "mixed or average" reviews on Metacritic, with a metascore of 58/100 on PS4[2] and 73/100 on Xbox One.[3]
