  • A lot of these pages need updating, and each repair drone and possibly thruster should have a page. I love to play Hawken, but this wiki is not as good as other game wiki. For example, the Rise of Berk wiki is outstanding because it is updated the day an update comes out. But this wiki still says that some parts and other things don't exist yet. Also, is there any other way to get the Initiative Vanguard.

    • Hawken's volatile state puts this Wikia in an usual position - we were founded from Hawken's PC beta period, and now, in the current times, changes to the game aren't always consistent or documented. I hate to say it, but Hawken still feels like a dying game, and our Wikia subsequently reflects that condition.

If you find something that's in need of updating, you can always add that info yourself! That's the kind of platform that Wikia is. However, as a game that's inconsistent across multiple platforms, take care to represent all states that Hawken may be in. That is, replacing information about original PC Hawken with console-specific information wont fly.

Thanks for your concerns! If you have questions or comments, just send me a message.

P.S. The Vanguard Initiative ran during the closed beta in 2012, and its rewards are no longer available

  • So when I wanted to play Hawken today there was a new update so can u also update the wiki? Thx.

    • The PC Hawken refresh was "soft" released May 24, yes - but with a huge disclaimer: "EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE." For that reason, I'm a little hesistant to start changing information here. At the end of the release day there was a 500MB patch to the 3.1GB update, so it looks like things are being changed extensively. I'd like to wait a little bit, let things smooth out first.

  • Thank you for maintaining this wiki. I'm only a noob so this will be extremely useful in the future.

  • Could you rename this page to Camos? This is a much more common term and is more understandeable tbh

      Loading editor
    • Hawken refers to such camos as Paint Patterns. To prevent disconnect between the game and this wiki, terminology will be kept the same. When a user sees "paint pattern" in Hawken and wants to know what that is, it's better if they can just search that, and not have to think up the word camo to find the page. I'll setup a redirect, however, for users who try to go to a "Camos" page.

  • Hi, I have a bit of a mystery on the page for Emblems I added today. The "ranked", "bullets", "8ball" "crion logo" and "elite" emblems have their names misaligned, but when I check into it the pictures have the exact same size as all the others, the source writing is exactly the same, and even in the preview window they all appear normal and well aligned. I don't really know what's happening there.

    • Ranked and Bullets look fine to me. As for the others, I know what you're talking about. I've noticed this layout bug too, where the preview and actual page are different. It's all caused by images. Since Wikia doesn't allow the img tag (and a lot of others) and instead has that [[IMAGE]] thing, they had to do a bit of screwing with the HTML flow. So images have weird padding that you cannot erase, weird spacing, and weird dynamic margins. All of which you cannot change. So my guess is that the brokenness of [[IMAGE]] images is causing the layout to fault. I've fixed the issues with a few lines breaks, so, problem solved. You were using actual carriage returns in the source editor, which will not reliably work. Line breaks, however, are almost gauranteed to work (sometimes too well). Compare changes to see what I've done if you want.

  • I noticed recently that anonymous comments have a custom label: rather than just being by "anonymous user" or "a wikia contributor" they are by "a lone Tenno".

Is that something that we can do on this wiki? It might be nice to have anons refered to as "unknown pilot" or the like.

    • Having fun at the Warframe wiki? :)

Yes, I can change the anon user tag. However, it is not possible at the moment. Due to the recent attacks on Wikia, editing of most of the core MediaWiki components to all wikias has been disabled. Once that is lifted, I'll get right to changing the tag.

  • Hi, me again. I saw a comment on here a few days ago and talked to a few people in the forums about it, that the "quick navigation" section on the front page doesn't help people find all the new or overhauled pages I and other people are helping add to the wiki right now, mainly articles regarding the hawken community, customisation stuff, and maybe the lore (not to mention gamemodes) and I was wondering if it was possible to add icons with links to that on the front page? (same as the other quick nav links, writing pages with links to all relevant articles in that category and linking those in the quick nav).

I was thinking a customisations link that would lead to a page with links to paint patterns, repair drones, mech chassis (am gonna add that soon), thrusters, etc, a link to community that would bring up a page with all the recurring community events, the tournament style events (TPG, Priority target, I got articles lined up for those but I have finals next week so it's put on hold for a few days) and the one time special events. And to finish up either an article with links to gamemodes or links to lore stuff. I'm suggesting three new categories for quick nav since the current layout is 3 pics per line and there's no reason not to keep it like that I suppose.

Since there's lots of code stuff going on and it's the front page I've been kind of afraid to mess with it and I'd like to know what you think of that idea.

  • Hello! I thought I'd ask here since you seem to be the man when it comes to business relating to this site, and the forums and community portal pages are pretty empty.

SO my question: is this wiki more focussed on mechanical aspects of the game (weapon descriptions, stats, gameplay tips) or is it possible to expand on the lore such as the comics and general fluff? (I'm noticing the sentium/prosk/illal pages are pretty bare to say the least).

I'd love to know so I can see what directions I can go with my contributions.

    • Hello there fellow Wikian!

Yes, the community here has pretty much disappeared since the Hawken devs "messed up" (personally I don't think it's as tragic as the rest of the fanbase does).

To answer your question, the Hawken wiki is for anything related to our favorite game :), that's how TurboJensen (the first admin) set it up. So you can put in lore, yes, so long as it's relevant. Keep it organized if you can, and try to follow the basic Hawken Wiki theme (but don't be afriad to variate it a bit here and there). And if something's not canon, just make a note of that on the page. I might stop by and see what you've done, maybe streamline the editing process a bit.

Enjoy your time on the wiki!

    • As you may have noticed I did a little tentative editing to some lore related articles (more to be added shortly) all based on the Hawken: Genesis comic (should I add that as a source at the bottom or something?) but anyway I had another question that's been bothering me for a while. Basically how could one add columns to the table on the internals page? Since I first browsed it I always thought it could use some adding of the amount of space and the price each internal takes, because I realised that information is available nowhere within easy reach besides the game itself.

I was also planning on doing that for items, but they each have a personnal page so I suppose I could just do it on a page by page basis (mk I = X slots and Y HC/MC / mk II = Z slots and W HC/MC etc etc) since the prices are more personalised depending on the item and not purely defined by amount of slots taken like the internals are.

    • The Prosk and Crion pages look great, good job with that! And yes, if you want you can cite the comic in a References section at the bottom of the page. I'll be creating a template soon for all comic source material to sit at the top of the page (like the Stub template) just to declare that it's from comics. You can add extra info to each item page, yes. The blue rectangles are just the quick info boxes, and I think adding too much information to them will cause clutter and confusion.
      ----------------------------------------------------------
And lastly, about WikiCode tables. Those... are a mess, really. I'll try to explain them as best as possible.

Here is an excerpt from the Internals page:
      Basic

Let's look at the first line:
      Line1

This is the declaration line. The entire table is enclosed in {} brackets, and you can see the opening { bracket on this first line (ignore the carriage return, that's to save image space). In it, the border width, space between cell contents and edges, space between cells, and CSS class are defined. There are also inline CSS attributes.

Now, the next three lines are the cells in the header row, they start with !

      Lines2-4

Scope is the type of component to the table it should be. We're using columns over rows, so each one is set to column. The | splits the scope declaration and name of the column. The names are bolded, hence the '''[NAME]''' triple apostrophes. So to add another column, add a new line after the existing 3 columns and do:
      ! scope="col"|'''[COLUMN NAME]'''

Next up is filling columns. To end a row of cells, use:
      |-

So, we end the header row with |- and then enter data for the next row. The next row is like this:

      Lines6-8

Each cell is defined by just the | character. So the first | that appears after a |- means the first cell of the next row. The first column is images, so the first cell of each row happens to be the internal's image. The new cell (and column) is name. The final one is description. Then we end the row with a |- so that we can start the next one. So, to add the data for a fourth cell (and column), add a new line after the third cell (for each row) and enter anything there. A completed example of adding a new column for the whole table:

      Example

The |... is just a placeholder for the rest of the table. And since we started the table with a { bracket, we end with a } bracket. Take note of the | in front of the } too.

I hope that's helpful and understandable!
